Tonya Gray Mclaughlin, DVM
Dr. Tonya Gray earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 1998. She has a strong interest in dentistry that is supported by advanced training from the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and also in emergency surgery. She is a proud member of the Chicago Veterinary Medical Association, American Veterinary Medical Association, and Illinois State Veterinary Medical Association.
Her passion for science and animals led her to veterinary medicine early in life. She knew the profession was right for her by high school and continues to value the lasting connections she builds with families. Opening Zion’s first animal hospital and providing state-of-the-art care to her community remains one of her proudest achievements.
Dr. Gray married her husband, Rick, the same year she started veterinary school. Together they raised three sons (Ricky, Derrick, and Benjamin), an accomplishment she treasures above all else. They also fostered their nieces and officially adopted them in January 2025. They share their home with a pack of Pit mixes, a couple of parakeets, and one bearded dragon. When not caring for pets, she enjoys weight training, reading, and nights out with her husband at a good restaurant.
