How Gray Animal Hospital Grew With the Community
Every veterinary hospital begins with an idea. For Gray Animal Hospital, that idea took shape years before the doors opened in 2018. It began with a veterinarian who loved science, loved animals, and wanted families in Zion to have access to modern, compassionate pet care close to home.
Growing to Meet Local Needs
Since opening as the first animal hospital in Zion, IL, Gray Animal Hospital quickly grew, adding more team members, expanding services, and becoming accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). This accreditation is earned by fewer than 15% of veterinary hospitals in the U.S. and Canada and reflects our team’s commitment to excellence in every part of patient care.
But growth didn’t stop there. The community needed access to urgent care. They needed dental care that included full-mouth imaging. They needed help with complex cases, advanced diagnostics, behavior support, and care for birds, rabbits, and exotic pets. Gray Animal Hospital responded by building a skilled, compassionate team and investing in equipment that rivaled larger specialty centers.
A New Chapter Begins
Today, Gray Animal Hospital is preparing for its next big leap: a brand-new, 5,000-square-foot facility opening in January 2026. The new space is designed for comfort, efficiency, and top-tier medicine. It features six exam rooms, a multipurpose training room, expanded treatment areas, and upgraded surgical suites.
One of the most exciting additions is our animal hospital’s MRI unit, which is the only one available in a general practice or urgent care setting in the region. This advancement will allow us to diagnose complex conditions in-house and offer referral MRI services for other veterinarians and their patients. The new hospital will also support expanded urgent care hours to meet the growing needs of local families.
