Linda Lewiston, DVM
Dr. Linda Lewiston earned her DVM from Iowa State University in 2009, followed by a small animal rotating internship at the Animal Emergency and Referral Center in Northbrook, IL. She is also a graduate of the Karen Pryor Training Academy and a certified training partner. Before veterinary school, Dr. Lewiston worked as a high school science teacher, guidance counselor, and emergency medical technician.
Her journey into veterinary medicine began when her own cat developed seizures. The veterinarian who helped her encouraged her to pursue the profession, and that encouragement changed her life. She enjoys improving the quality of life for pets and values the collaborative relationship she builds with pet owners.
At home, Dr. Lewiston has two Boxers and four Golden Retrievers. She and a friend breed Goldens, and many of their puppies have become service dogs, including one who works as a drug-detection dog for a police department. She participates in conformation, obedience, and agility competitions and holds various titles with her dogs. She also partners with rescues to help dogs with behavioral challenges become adoptable. Her home is full of rescued cats as well. During quiet moments, she loves reading with a cat curled up on her lap.
